The Int'l Skating Union and its marketing arm, IMG, are being sued by a company claiming "fraud and tortuous interference in business relations." Norbert Gschwend and Stadion "initiated the suit" in N.Y. on Friday. They allege that IMG and the ISU "conspired to eliminate Stadion by not honoring contracts Stadion had with both groups." Gschwend, in a statement released at the World Figure Skating Championships: "Our businesses were completely wiped out by the way IMG and ISU conspired to steal our ISU contract out from under us." Gschwend "estimated" that Stadion lost $20- $30M a year in net profits. ISU General Secretary Fredi Schmid said "the claims of Gschwend against the ISU ... are totally unfounded and will be vigorously contested" (AP/ HARTFORD COURANT, 4/5)....A total of 95,994 attended the World Figure Skating Championships at the Target Center in Minneapolis, including 9,570 at Sunday's "Celebration of Champions" exhibition.
