NAMES IN THE NEWS

          CA-based SEAVER MARKETING GROUP, producers of the
     NATIONAL SPORTS FORUM, has announced that the '99 National
     Sports Forum has been awarded to the Jacksonville area.  Its
     fourth annual conference will be held at the World Golf
     Village in St. Augustine from January 17-19, 1999.  The
     Forum is anticipating more than 400 attendees to the '99
     conference.  THE SPORTS BUSINESS DAILY is the Official
     Publication of the National Sports Forum (THE DAILY).
          OTHER NAMES: T-Wolves Owner GLEN TAYLOR was profiled in
     Sunday's Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE.  Taylor, at 57, is "the
     youngest and, by some measures, the richest billionaire in
     Minnesota."  He is "politically astute and connected" and
     "may be the state's most influential citizen."  He remains
     "intrigued at the prospect" of somehow combining the Twins
     and T-Wolves into a year-round sports entertainment company
     (STAR TRIBUNE, 4/26)....Former NBA referee GEORGE TOLIVER,
     serving a home confinement sentence for federal tax fraud,
     was the focus of a two-part series by Ursula Reel of the
     N.Y. POST.  Tolliver's sentence expires Wednesday (N.Y.
     POST, 4/26-27)....GREG NORMAN was among the guests at
     Saturday's White House Correspondents Dinner (DETROIT NEWS,
     4/25)....MIA HAMM will tape a guest appearance on HBO's
     "Ali$$" today (FT. LAUDERDALE SUN-SENTINEL, 4/26)....SPIKE
     LEE appeared on ABC's "GMA" to discuss his new movie, "He
     Got Game."  Lee, on casting Bucks G RAY ALLEN in a starring
     role: "We felt that it would have been a much riskier choice
     to find an actor who had skills that can be in the NBA, and
     there are no actors like that" ("GMA," ABC, 4/27).
