          MLB: With Monday night's season-low attendance of
     5,200, the A's have drawn just 138,038 for 11 home games, an
     average of 12,549 (OAKLAND TRIBUNE, 4/21)....While warming
     up before last night's Orioles-Angels game at Edison Field,
     Orioles 3B Cal Ripken walked through the stands and into the
     ballpark's new luxury Diamond Club.  Ripken: "I didn't know
     what it was from down on the field.  I was just trying to
     understand the concept" (L.A. TIMES, 4/22)....Cubs Marketing
     Dir John McDonough said the team has received positive
     responses from fans regarding its "guest-conductor gigs" for
     the seventh-inning stretch (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 4/22).
          HOCKEY: The concept, design and sale of the Stars' new
     green alternate jersey is featured in the DALLAS MORNING
     NEWS.  Lloyd Hames, coordinator of the NHL's alternate
     jersey program, said of the six teams that introduced new
     jerseys this season, the Stars' green jerseys rank No. 2 in
     sales behind the Flyers (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 4/22)....The
     IHL San Francisco Spiders franchise, which last played
     during the '95-96 season, has its financing in place for a
     new arena in Victoria, B.C.  The team is expected to begin
     play in the '99-2000 season (HOCKEY NEWS, 4/22 issue).

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown. SBJ’s Tom Friend also joins the show to share his insights into NBA viewership trends.
