EXECUTIVE TRANSACTIONS

          TIM SMITH is expected to be named today as the first
     commissioner of the National Thoroughbred Racing
     Association.  Smith served as Deputy Commissioner of the PGA
     Tour in the '80s (USA TODAY, 4/21)....NHL ICE named TOM
     RICHARDSON as GM, overseeing the NHL's official Web site. 
     He was Senior Dir of Publishing at NFL Properties for the
     past eight years (NHL ICE)....BRANDWEEK's Terry Lefton
     reports that CHUCK KREMERS "is out as marketing chief" at
     Service Merchandise....NASCAR has hired BRETT YORMARK to
     head sponsorship sales, replacing VP/Strategic Marketing
     STEVE SCHIFFMAN in New York.  Yormark was Senior
     VP/Sponsorship Programs for the Nets....TODD PARKER has
     joined the USTA as Dir of Events & Special Projects.  He was
     w/the NHL's Corporate Sponsorships Dept. (BRANDWEEK, 4/20).
