FRANCHISE NOTES

Nashville-based Baptist Hospital has agreed to a ten-
year deal to become the official health care provider for
the NHL Predators (Predators)....Expos Dir of Media Services
Monique Giroux, on reports that the team put "X"'s on spring
training balls so they wouldn't lose them to the Cardinals,
who are training at the same complex: "We're not that cheap.
St. Louis and us agreed it would be a good way to do it.
It's just that they don't have anything marked on their
balls" (CP, 3/13)....Prospective Twins buyer Don Beaver was
in Fort Myers yesterday to tour the team's spring training
facility. Beaver's assistant Tim Newman said that Beaver
will attend next week's owners' meetings in St. Pete to get
a "blessing on the transaction." Newman said the Twins'
sale to Beaver is contingent on two conditions: the sale
being approved by MLB owners, and the relocation of the team
to NC being approved (PIONEER PRESS, 3/13)....Around 400
season-ticket holders attended the first Islanders Fan
Forum. NEWSDAY's Mark Herrmann writes, "The voice rose with
every word, befitting a revival meeting under a tent. ... In
all, it was a pretty good show" (NEWSDAY, 3/13).
