REBAGLIATI MAKES IT OFFICIAL: HE IS TRACING HIS ROOTS

          Olympic gold medal-winning snowboarder Ross Rebagliati
     officially signed an endorsement deal with Roots Canada on
     Wednesday, according to Jim Morris of the Toronto GLOBE &
     MAIL.  During the press conference, the first question asked
     of Roots co-Founder Don Green involved "whether the sports-
     clothing manufacturer endorsed marijuana use by hiring
     Rebagliati."  Green: "We absolutely do not condone the use
     of marijuana. ... We believe Ross deserves a second chance. 
     We believe in this guy."  The agreement runs through the
     2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City.  Rebagliati will make
     store appearances and be featured in print and TV ads. A
     line of Rebagliati snowboard clothes will be developed, with
     a targeted launch date of fall '99.  Financial terms of the
     deal were not released (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 3/12).
