              ANDY DOLICH was named Exec VP/Strategic Marketing &
         Sales of CA-based Advantix, Inc., a provider of automated
         ticket systems and services to entertainment and sports
         venues (Advantix)....Sports Specialties named MARK HAMPTON
         as General Manager.  Hampton comes from Sara Lee, where he
         held COO, VP and GM positions (Sports Specialties)....CBS
         Sports named KEVIN HARLAN to its NFL broadcast team. Harlan
         did NFL play-by-play for Fox since '93 and is the radio
         voice of the Timberwolves since '89 (CBS Sports).

  • MICHELLE, YOU'LL NEVER GET A NIKE DEAL TALKING LIKE THIS!

              MICHELLE KWAN was a guest on the "Tonight Show."  Kwan:
         "People say, 'You lost the gold, how do you feel?'  And I'm
         like, 'I didn't lose the gold.  I won the silver'" (NBC,
         2/26).  U.S. Olympic speedskater CHRIS WITTY was a guest on
         the "Late Show."  DAVID LETTERMAN gave her an "Olympic Medal
         Rolodex" to store her two gold medals (CBS, 2/26).

              Cavs GM WAYNE EMBRY will be honored tomorrow when he
         will be named the '98 Black Professional of the Year by the
         BLACK PROFESSIONALS ASSOCIATION (AKRON BEACON JOURNAL,
         2/27)....Mariners SS ALEX RODRIGUEZ will help lead the
         first-ever "Read Across America" celebration, sponsored by
         the Nat'l Education Association (NEA), on March 2 by reading
         DR. SEUSS' "Green Eggs and Ham" with students in Phoenix, AZ
         (NEA)....JOE DIMAGGIO, and his role in a new film, "The
         First of May," were featured on "ET" (2/26)....Two members
         of the HARLEM GLOBETROTTERS were featured on ABC's "GMA" at
         the Reebok Sports Club in N.Y. this morning attempting to
         set a new slam dunk record by dunking on a 12-foot rim. 
         Globetrotters Chair MANNIE JACKSON noted that the players
         were wearing Reebok DMX-6s ("GMA," ABC, 2/27).
