FEEL THE LOVE: NEW WOMEN'S MAGAZINE TO LAUNCH IN DECEMBER

Former Proctor & Gamble Manager Amy Love is starting a
women's sports magazine, Amy Love's Real Sports, which is
set to launch December 21, according to FOLIO/MEDIA CENTRAL.
The launch will have a controlled circulation of 200,000-
250,000 and begin as a bimonthly. The "plan" is to go
monthly in 2-4 years and twice monthly by year five. Love,
said she expects to have about 500,000 subscribers -- mostly
25- to 45-year-old women, and that Real Sports will have
"balanced coverage of professional, collegiate and amateur
athletics -- primarily team sports -- as participant and
spectator phenomena." Love: "It's a huge untapped market
segment." In her "main marketing push," Love will "give
away the first three issues" to 250,000 targeted prospects.
That will be backed by a grass-roots push which includes
subscription-card handouts at the NCAA women's basketball
playoffs and at women's soccer events (MEDIA CENTRAL, 2/26).
