Jenny Schmidgall, a member of the U.S. women's hockey
team, might be able to be on a commemorative Wheaties box,
as Univ. of MN Dir of Athletic Compliance Chris Schoemann
"was talking with NCAA officials Thursday to clarify
Schmidgall's status," according to Jay Weiner of the
Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE. Schmidgall, who has accepted a
half-scholarship to play at Univ of MN, has not yet enrolled
at the school." As long as Schmidgall "isn't paid to be on
the box and if the Wheaties boxes are mostly off the shelves
when she does enroll, then she can be on the box." General
Mills spokesperson David Dix said the boxes should be in
stores the week of March 2, and that the boxes are generally
"sold out within a month" (STAR TRIBUNE, 2/20).
