LOCAL BUYERS ADD TWO MORE INVESTORS, NEAR GOAL FOR OILERS

Local Edmonton investors are now within C$10M of
keeping the Oilers, according to MacDonald & Geddes of the
EDMONTON JOURNAL. Two new investors include local business
exec Al Owen and one who remains anonymous. Cal Nichols,
spokesperson for the investors, said that the group has now
set its sights on raising "at least" C$60M to lower interest
costs on the debt it must also take on to buy the club.
The group is soliciting support from "as many people as
possible" in corporate Canada for "investment commitments or
long-term advertising contracts" (EDMONTON JOURNAL, 2/18).
