          Former Tigers OF Kirk Gibson "is expected to be named
     shortly" the color analyst on Fox Sports Detroit's Tigers
     broadcasts this season (DETROIT NEWS, 2/10)....Fox's James
     Brown will host "Journey to a Dream," a 90-second, daily
     feature for urban radio stations that promotes positive
     minority role models from the world of sports, beginning
     March 2 (BROADCASTING & CABLE, 2/9 issue).... "Veronica's
     Closet"/"King of the Hill" co-star Kathy Najimy is set to
     appear in a Linda Ellerbee-produced miniseries on a college
     sports coach battling Title IX violations (THE SPORTING
     NEWS, 2/9 issue)....Last Thursday's Duke-UNC basketball game
     on ESPN2 earned a 2.9, making it the net's second-highest-
     rated program ever.  The game was seen in 1.6 million U.S.
     households, an ESPN2 record (ESPN2)....ESPN SportsZone has
     launched ESPN Insider, an enhanced subscriber package, with
     new content including, "SportsCenter" on Demand, an
     audiofeed of the previous night's 2:00am ET "SportsCenter;"
     Insider's Guide; Zone notes; fantasy league discounts; and
     daily ZoneMail.  Charter subscribers will receive a free
     issue of ESPN Magazine (ESPN)....Donna de Varona has signed
     on with One-On-One Sports as a regular contributor to the
     radio network.  Varona will provide 90-second commentaries
     each Tuesday and Thursday (One-On-One).

NBC Olympics’ Molly Solomon, ESPN’s P.K. Subban, the Masters and more

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with Molly Solomon, who will lead NBC’s production of the Olympics, and she shares what the network is are planning for Paris 2024. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s P.K. Subban as the Stanley Cup Playoffs get set to start this weekend. SBJ’s Josh Carpenter also joins the show to share his insights from this year’s Masters, while Karp dishes on how the WNBA Draft’s record-breaking viewership is setting the league up for a new stratosphere of numbers.

SBJ I Factor features an interview with Mountain West Conference Commissioner Gloria Nevarez. The second-ever MWC commissioner chats with SBJ’s Ross Nethery about her climb through the collegiate ranks. Nevarez is a member of SBJ’s Game Changers Class of 2019. Nevarez has had stints at the conference level in the Pac-12, West Coast Conference, and Mountain West Conference as well as at the college level at Oklahoma, Cal, and San Jose State. She shares stories of that journey as well as how being a former student-athlete guides her decision-making today. SBJ I Factor is a monthly podcast offering interviews with sports executives who have been recipients of one of the magazine’s awards.
