PRINCE INTRODUCES NEW GOLF PRODUCTS, SIGNS DEALS WITH TGC

Signaling its increasing investment into the golf
market, Prince recently introduced the ThunderStick Titanium
4000 Driver. The company's first driver, which comes on the
heels of its ThunderStick irons, features a 4000 mm face
which Prince claims results in a larger sweet spot. It will
be supported by print, Internet and TV ads, including 15-
and 60-second spots on The Golf Channel (TGC) in March and
April. The spots coincide with deals Prince reached with
TGC to become the official sponsor of "Golf Talk Live" and
"Golf Channel Academy" for the two months. Prince VP/
Marketing Rick Margin said the golf ads will focus on
product rather than athlete endorsements: "We're looking at
Pro Tour opportunities, but that's not a large part of our
'98 initiatives." Prince also unveiled its ThunderStrike
Titanium tennis racquet, which will be supported through
print and POP displays. Prince's advertising is handled by
NJ-based Phacker & Frank (THE DAILY).
