TORONTO EXEC CALLS LEAFS' BLUFF ON EXHIBITION PLACE
Published January 29, 1998
Toronto councillor Dennis Fotinos said that he and "a
growing number of his colleagues believe" the Maple Leafs
"do not intend to go through with their plans to build an
arena at Exhibition Place," according to David Shoalts of
the Toronto GLOBE & MAIL. Fotinos called the site "a
bargaining tool" for the Leafs to become partners with the
Raptors at Air Canada Centre. Leafs VP Tom Anselmi, who
heads the arena project: "This is the site we want to build
on." Due-diligence ends February 28 (GLOBE & MAIL, 1/29).
