GETTING OVER THAT SUPER BOWL HANGOVER: CONGRESSMAN ELWAY?

          CO's political establishment "was buzzing with
     speculation" that JOHN ELWAY could retire from football and
     run for Congress after the announcement by U.S. Rep. DAN
     SCHAEFER (R-CO) that he will not seek re-election to the
     "solidly Republican 6th Congressional District," according
     to Michael Romano of the ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS.  Elway is a
     registered Republican and Chris Baker, Exec Dir of the CO
     Republican Party said, "Obviously, it seems like a good fit"
     (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 1/27).  In other news, Elway and
     Republic Industries have filed a countersuit against
     American Honda claiming Honda's attempts to block the sale
     of his dealership to Republic "are illegal."  The dispute
     could last six to eight months (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 1/27).
          PARTY TIME: Super Bowl MVP TERRELL DAVIS was the lead
     guest on NBC's "Tonight Show."  Davis was interviewed for
     more than eight minutes.  Davis, asked if the victory had
     sunk in yet: "Not really. ... It only happened, what?  A
     couple of hours ago.  So for me, I feel like I've been up
     all night."  Leno: "Boy, you really got hit in the head"
     (NBC, 1/26)....The "Late Show"'s BOB BORDEN aired his Super
     Bowl report last night.  Borden to the Broncos' DL MIKE
     LODISH after the game: "Who do you think scored more often
     today, you or BILL CLINTON?" ("Late Show," CBS, 1/26).
