Published December 9, 1997
CBS Sports and "CBS This Morning" will team up to broadcast the women's gold medal game at the upcoming Nagano Winter Games. The game is scheduled for Tuesday, February 17, and with the 14-hour time difference, is scheduled to begin at 4:00am EDT. CBS will then air the game during "CBS This Morning" 7:00-9:00am ET time slot (CBS). BIG NUMBERS: Broadcast fees for the Nagano Games total "about" $513M so far, according to Norma Reveler of the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. IOC VP Richard Pound said that the IOC is "still negotiating for broadcast rights with some small regions, particularly in Africa and Asia." The IOC expect "more than" 10 billion people to tune in to the Games, a figure 40-50% "higher than" the audience for the '92 Albertville Games (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 12/9).
