EVENT & ATTRACTION NOTES
Published December 4, 1997
The Nike Tour, "unable to attract enough corporate
sponsors," will not return to Philadelphia in '98. The
tournaments were operated locally by Allegheny Health,
Education & Research Foundation (AHERF). AHERF Exec Dir
Mary Ann Saleski: "It was a hard sell in a major city with a
lot of other professional sports. The sense is that the
Nike Tour is a good thing in a smaller market" (PHILA.
INQUIRER, 12/4)....The '98 Senior PGA Tour schedule will
stop in the Baltimore/DC area, as the State Farm Senior
Classic will be played June 29-July 5 at Hobbit's Glen Golf
Club in Columbia, MD (Senior PGA)....The NCAA women's soccer
Final Four this weekend is sold out, with crowds of 9,025
expected at UNC-Greensboro Stadium (USA TODAY, 12/3).
