Nike extended its December 15 deadline in the search
for a location to build a satellite office in the Western
U.S. or Canada. The expansion likely would employ up to
5,000 people after 2000. Nike Dir of PR Lee Weinstein said
that CO, NM, NV, WA and British Columbia are all candidates.
No new deadline was set (DENVER POST, 12/13)....San Diego
will remain host of the ESPN X Games in '98, set to take
place June 19-28. More than 225,000 spectators attended the
week-long '97 X Games in the city (ESPN).
