METS AND YANKEES STADIUM NAME DEALS TO BRING BOFFO BUCKS

A new ballpark for the Mets "will carry a corporate
name -- with the Yankees likely to follow," according to
Salkin & Hardt of the N.Y. POST. A Mets name deal could be
worth $100M, while the Yankees could "pull in even more" in
what experts said could be "the biggest corporate naming
deal in history." A spokesperson for Yankees Owner George
Steinbrenner said that the team "welcomes bids" from those
"interested in sharing the name of its new stadium." Mets
President Fred Wilpon also dismissed rumors that the new
Mets facility would be named Jackie Robinson Stadium. In a
sidebar, Salkin wrote that among the corporations likely
interested in naming rights include NY-based IBM, PepsiCo,
Time Warner, AT&T and Viacom, and NJ-based companies Warner
Lambert and Johnson & Johnson (N.Y. POST, 12/14).
