DESPITE PLAYOFF RUN AND ALLURE OF RILEY, HEAT OFF AT GATE

Heat officials "are perplexed" that the team is "on
pace" to finish this season with three or four sellouts,
coming off its "best season ever," according to Barry
Jackson of the MIAMI HERALD. Heat President/Business
Operations Jay Cross: "Of course we're concerned." The
Heat's all-time low for sellouts in a season is eight in
'94-95. Last year, the Heat sold out 21 games and averaged
15,004 tickets sold. The team is averaging 14,707 in '97.
In other Heat news, sources tell Jackson that FL-based
business exec John Henry and PA-based Sidney Kimmel "have
emerged as front-runners to become new limited partners in
the Heat" (Barry Jackson, MIAMI HERALD, 12/9).
