NAMES IN THE NEWS

          SIMON DEBARTOLO Group Inc. launched a joint venture
     with Donaldson, Lifkin & Jenrette Inc. to "acquire and
     develop entertainment-related real-estate properties,"
     including sports complexes and race tracks.  The partners
     say they expect to acquire "more than" $1B in assets within
     two years (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 11/5)....MICHAEL JORDAN, on
     being a role model: "I can only do what I'm comfortable
     doing, and working with kids in the inner city is one of
     them.  But I try to do what I can in other areas.  Like I'm
     keeping on top of how Nike treats workers in Asia, though I
     think some of that is misunderstood" (N.Y. TIMES, 11/5).
