NIKETOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF A WORLDWIDE GROWTH SPURT

Nike Australia is spending "about" $8M on its "first
giant concept store" in that country, expected to open in
Melbourne in November '98, according to AD AGE. The store
is expected to look like a film set and "provide an
interactive shopping experience for consumers." A second
store is expected to open in Sydney in late '99. The
Australian athletic footwear, clothing and accessories
market "is estimated" at $1.5B and Nike claims between 32%
and 35% share of Australia's $400M athletic footwear market
(AD AGE, 11/24).....NikeTown Las Vegas, Nike's 10th store in
the U.S., opened to the public on November 21 (Nike).
