49ERS GET TECHNO OVER THREE-YEAR DEAL WITH HEWLETT-PACKARD

          Hewlett-Packard (H-P) has inked a three-year deal to
become the "technology provider" for the 49ers, according to
Steve Ginsberg of the S.F. BUSINESS JOURNAL. The deal
"delivers visibility" for H-P at 3Com Park, where it will
supply all the hardware for the 49ers' technology pavilion,
where fans will be able to surf the Internet, play video
games and view multimedia displays on H-P computers before
home games. H-P will also supply the team's "business and
notebook computers and printers." Ginsberg adds that while
H-P has been involved with sports "for years," it has
increased its profile over the last year. Its largest
commitment so far has been becoming the technology provider
to the '98 World Cup (S.F. BUSINESS JOURNAL, 11/10).
