          VP AL GORE will represent the U.S. at Nagano's opening
     ceremonies and First Lady HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON will attend
     the closing ceremonies (SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, 11/9)....PETER
     MAX pleaded guilty to charge of concealing more than $1.1M
     in income from the IRS.  He is expected to be sentenced in
     February (N.Y. TIMES, 11/11)....TERRY BRADSHAW's "Home Team"
     is being pulled as the "ratings-challenged" first-year talk
     show halted production (N.Y. POST, 11/11)....ESPN's JOE
     THEISMANN commented on MIKE DITKA, after reports that Ditka
     made a $25 bet with his Defensive Coordinator before their
     game against the Raiders on Sunday, and Ditka's recent
     appearance on an "SNL" skit in which he said his team
     "sucks."  Theismann: "You were a heckuva football coach in
     the eighties.  I don't know this guy in the nineties. ... I
     see a self-promoter who cares about himself a lot more than
     he cares about his football team" (ESPN, 11/10)....MARTINA
     HINGIS was a guest on the "Late Show."  On her U.S. Open
     win: "It's always big fun winning in New York, especially
     playing someone like Venus Williams.  Beating her in the
     finals was probably my biggest win ever" (CBS, 11/10).
