     named four new board members: NBC Sports Senior
     VP/Programming JONATHAN MILLER, U.S. Soccer Exec Dir HANK
     STEINBRECHER, ABC Sports Dir of Marketing TERI WAGNER and
     JEFFREY POLLACK, President & Publisher of THE DAILY (WSMC).
          OTHER NEWS: ESPN named STEVEN PLANAMENTA as Manager of
     Corporate Communications.  He comes from CT-based PR firm
     The Blackbird Group (ESPN)....DAN WARTELLE was hired by the
     ABL Reign as Media Relations Assistant for the next six
     months (Reign)....BOB STELLICK "will leave his post" as
     Maple Leafs Dir of Business Ops & Communications today. 
     Stellick will join the London office of PR firm Shandwick
     Inc. as Canadian VP (TORONTO SUN, 10/7).....Oakley Inc.
     appointed WILLIAM SCHMIDT, VP/Worldwide Sports Marketing for
     Gatorade, to its Board of Dir (Oakley).
