The Women's Global Challenge, which will run from April 28 through May 2, 1999, is examined by Terry Lefton of BRANDWEEK. He reports that TV deals "are set with Lifetime and CBS, which will broadcast two hours on both Saturday and Sunday. No title sponsorship is being offered." IMG, which is creating the event, is looking to sell eight four-year "Founding Partner" packages at $5M each. That would include two Challenges and on ongoing affiliation with the Women's Sports Foundation dinner and grass-roots programs." But no deals have been finalized yet (BRANDWEEK, 10/6 issue). MOTOWN IN SAN DIEGO? In his "Buzz" column, VARIETY's Michael Fleming writes that Radio City Productions, which is producing the Super Bowl XXXII Halftime Show, has "chosen to fete the 40th anniversary of Motown" for the event. Fleming: "It looks like Boyz II Men, Stevie Wonder, Kenneth (Babyface) Edmonds, the Tempations and the Four Tops are on the verge of coming aboard, with Diana Ross and Michael Jackson also possibilities" (VARIETY, 10/6).
