          WEB: FootAction USA is launching a Web site November 1
     that contains sports content, a product catalog and chat. 
     The site, www.footaction.com, is being developed by DDB
     Interactive, Dallas (MEDIAWEEK, 10/20 issue). 
          TV: HBO will profile Babe Ruth in a one-hour special
     next summer on the 50th anniversary of his death (N.Y. DAILY
     NEWS, 10/21)....In N.Y., Richard Sandomir reports that NBC
     and Turner Sports "are hoping to renew their N.B.A. deals
     before their exclusive negotiating periods end" on November
     16.  Turner Sports President Harvey Schiller: "The meetings
     have been very good" (N.Y. TIMES, 10/21). 
          PUBLISHING: Women's sports publications are profiled by
     Matthew Flamm in MEDIAWEEK.  Flamm: "The women's sports
     magazines ... are helping each other simply by establishing
     the category" (MEDIAWEEK, 10/20 issue).

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown. SBJ’s Tom Friend also joins the show to share his insights into NBA viewership trends.
