TAMPA OFFICIALS AND DEVIL RAYS DECIDE TO JUST GET ALONG
Published October 17, 1997
Tampa city leaders "reluctantly agreed" on Thursday to
split $7.2M in cost overruns with the Devil Rays in a move
which ensured that work on Tropicana Field "will be
completed on time," according to Sean Langell of the TAMPA
TRIBUNE. The city and team also agreed "not to file
lawsuits against one another," and decided that once work is
complete, both parties will decide "mutually" whether to
pursue litigation against the project's architect,
construction manager or contractors. The two also agreed
that the team "would not be liable" if additional overruns
go beyond $7.2M, and if such overruns do occur, they "will
negotiate a solution together" (TAMPA TRIBUNE, 10/17).
