SLOC'S JOKLIK TAKEN TO TASK OVER PR PROBLEMS OF 2002 GAMES
SLOC President Frank Joklik told a UT legislative committee that he's "committed to repairing the damage done to the image of the 2002 Winter Games," according to Lisa Riley Roche of the DESERET NEWS. Joklik made his remarks as the SLOC asked "for a change in the law that would delay repayment" of the $59M that state and local taxpayers have invested in Olympic facilities. State Rep. Jordan Tanner: "There's got to be a huge amount of fence mending done to bring the people of this state back in support. We've taken some horrible steps backward." Joklik: "The events of the last two to three months have, in some people's minds, sown doubts about whether the people involved ... are really decent human beings." Joklik wants to improve communication between the SLOC and the public (DESERET NEWS, 9/27).
