ASIA ON TOUR? NO, NOT THE BAND: NBA PLAYERS SPAN THE GLOBE

The promotion of the NBA in Asia was examined by CNN's
May Lee. Lee: "It's big. It's flashy. And it's working.
The living legends of basketball are dribbling through Asia
more than ever to promote the NBA." More Lee: "There's a
very good reason for why the giant sponsors like Nike,
Reebok and Coca-Cola are bringing out the biggest names in
the NBA to [Asia.] In Asia, basketball is growing at a
record pace. In fact, total involvement of teens in the
sport is an average [of] 85%." Lee: "The region's potential
gives the NBA all the more reason to expand its presence."
The NBA has five offices throughout Asia "with another on
the way" ("Sports Inc.," CNNfn, 9/11).
