COOP GOES TO THE HOOP WITH GM ENDORSEMENT PACKAGE

WNBA MVP Cynthia Cooper of the Houston Comets has
signed a two-year, $200,000 "promotional contract," with GM,
according to Dave Phillips of the DETROIT NEWS. GM is the
official automotive company of the WNBA, and has previously
signed the Liberty's Rebecca Lobo and the Sparks' Lisa
Leslie as spokespeople. In addition to promoting GM's
brands, Cooper will also "support efforts to find a cure for
breast cancer." She will appear in TV/print ads starting
late this fall, and "make special appearances" on behalf of
GM's "Concept: Cure" program. Cooper will also participate
in a GM training program during the off-season in marketing,
advertising and PR to "prepare her for 'life after
basketball'" (DETROIT NEWS, 9/11). In N.Y., Richard
Sandomir adds that the job training "could become a pilot
program for other W.N.B.A. players" (N.Y. TIMES, 9/11).
SHOWTIME: Cooper will be in New York City today to tape
appearances on the "Late Show" with David Letterman and the
"Rosie O'Donnell Show" (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 9/11).
