SI WOMEN/SPORT TO RELEASE SECOND ISSUE NEXT WEEK

Sports Illustrated Women/Sport's second issue will hit
newsstands on September 2, with a cover story on U.S. soccer
player Mia Hamm. The issue previews women's college sports,
and includes features on Shelly Pennefather, who gave up pro
basketball in Japan to become a nun; and Aimee Mullins, an
amputee who became a world record holder in the 100-meter
sprint and the long jump at the '96 Paralympics (SI).
KIDS STUFF: Youth magazines are featured in USA TODAY,
and Cathy Hainer writes that "perhaps the greatest success
in the adult-to-kids transition has been" SI for Kids.
Hainer: "Within five years, SI for Kids began turning a
profit. It now generates more than [$12M] in ad revenue and
boasts 950,000 in circulation. Many adult magazines would
kill for figures like that" (USA TODAY, 8/27).
