          Jazz F KARL MALONE will play himself in an upcoming
     episode of NBC's "The Tony Danza Show" this fall (DESERET
     NEWS, 8/26)....'96 Olympic Women's Basketball coach TARA
     VANDERVEER's memoirs, "Shooting from the Outside; How a
     Coach and Her Olympic Team Transformed Women's Basketball," 
     will be published by Avon Books.  It was written with JOAN
     RYAN (N.Y. POST, 8/27)....ALLEN IVERSON pleaded no contest
     to carrying a concealed weapon and was placed on three years
     of probation yesterday in a New Kent, VA, District Court. 
     As part of a plea agreement, a marijuana possession charge
     was dropped.  Under the agreement, Iverson, who was joined
     at the trial by 76ers President PAT CROCE, must also undergo
     monthly drug testing for two years and may not own a gun
     during that time (PHILA. INQUIRER, 8/27)....ANDRE AGASSI, on
     his decision not to attend the Arthur Ashe Stadium
     dedication Monday night: "A situation arose that I decided
     to make a call and quite honestly I was very disappointed
     not to be there.  Sometimes priorities call and I was very
     disappointed not to be there" (WASHINGTON POST, 8/27).
