Fox's catcher-cam continues to be featured during the
net's regional coverage, and Richard Sandomir writes that
catcher-cam "has quickly delivered on its promise. Sure,
the tiny 10-ounce camera/battery pack shakes now and then,
but how much can you complain when you're watching something
from a never-before-used vantage point?" (N.Y. TIMES, 8/12).
Also in N.Y., Phil Mushnick wrote that catcher-cam "proved
to be compelling, live attraction" (N.Y. POST, 8/11).
GOOD PARTNER: In Baltimore, Milton Kent writes that Fox
and MLB are starting to "find more in the way of common
ground," and Fox execs "suggest that their relationship with
[MLB] is good and getting better." Fox Sports Exec Producer
Ed Goren: "If you look at what MLB has done with us on the
production side over the last eight months, they've been
more cooperative, more helpful." Goren also said that MLB
has consulted Fox on possible realignment. Goren: "They
want us to be part of the process." Among Fox's MLB ratings
for the season, Goren added that viewership among males 18-
34 is up 13% over '96 (Baltimore SUN, 8/12).
