WARSAW CENTER CONCLUDES FIRST EXECUTIVE CONFERENCE

          This past weekend the James H. Warsaw Sports Marketing
     Center at the University of OR concluded its first annual
     retreat for sports industry executives.  Held at the
     Sunriver Resort in OR, the five-day conference featured off-
     the-record discussions and presentations on emerging
     cultural trends, sports broadcasting and telecommunications,
     diversity in sports business, sports venues, fan avidity,
     and intellectual property law.  Participants included: HANK
     STEINBRECHER, Exec Dir, U.S. Soccer; DONNA LOPIANO, Exec
     Dir, Women's Sports Foundation; ANDY ROUNDTREE, VP/Finance &
     Administration, Anaheim Sports; JAY QUALMAN, General Dir of
     Marketing Operations, General Motors; DOUG SINGLE, Exec Dir,
     1998 Nike World Masters Games; and JEFFREY POLLACK,
     President & Publisher, THE DAILY.  The second annual retreat
     has been set for August 1998.  MIKE RITCHEY, Dir of the
     Warsaw Center: "Industry leaders have indicated a desire to
     be part of a very private learning conference and we are
     looking to meet that need" (THE DAILY).
