     RB Jerome Bettis and Oilers RB Eddie George have been named
     spokespersons for Players Inc, the NFLPA's licensing and
     marketing arm (Players Inc)....Spots for Blue Cross & Blue
     Shield that promote disease prevention through "preventative
     measures" will break in August and feature Yankees SS Derek
     Jeter, Olympic figure skater Peggy Fleming and Cowboys RB
     Herschel Walker (AD AGE, 7/29)....Nike South Africa is
     sponsoring the South African Springbok rugby team (AD AGE,
     7/28 issue)....The William Morris Agency has signed on to
     represent Padres OF Tony Gwynn (William Morris)....In
     Toronto, Tom Tebbutt on duMaurier's sponsorship of the
     Canadian Open tennis tournament: "The federal government's
     recent tough tobacco-sponsorship legislation has pretty well
     sealed the fate for Imperial Tobacco's 20-year support." 
     Tennis Canada President Bob Moffatt: "The legislation is so
     restrictive that the value (for Imperial Tobacco) is just
     not there anymore" (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 7/28).
