          WISE took out a quarter-page ad in today's N.Y. TIMES
     congratulating Nike VP/Marketing LIZ DOLAN, WISE's '97 Woman
     of the Year (N.Y. TIMES, 7/28)....Celtics Chair PAUL GASTON
     was profiled in the BOSTON HERALD by Mark Murphy:  "After
     years of absorbing hits from his team's disenfranchised
     public, he has apparently turned the corner" (BOSTON HERALD,
     7/27)....Funeral services for BEN HOGAN will be held Tuesday
     at 2:00pm ET at the University Christian Church on the
     campus of TCU in Ft. Worth (PGA Tour)......MEL GIBSON
     attended a recent pilot taping of "The Magic Hour," MAGIC
     JOHNSON's late night talk show scheduled to launch next year
     (VARIETY, 7/27). ...In N.Y., George Willis wrote on the
     Jets' JAMES FARRIOR replacing agent BRAD BLANK with RALPH
     CINDRICH.  Farrior's supporters "accused Blank of using
     'threatening tactics,' in an unsuccessful attempt to
     intimidate" the first-round pick.  Blank said it is the
     first time he has had a "major dispute" with a client. 
     Blank: "If I were in a position to tell all the facts, it
     would show I'm not the bad guy" (N.Y. POST, 7/27).
     ...SHAQUILLE O'NEAL will do a guest spot on "Baywatch" (L.A.
     TIMES, 7/28)....EVANDER HOLYFIELD, on meeting NELSON
     MANDELA, who was a former amateur boxer, during his visit to
     South Africa: "I showed him a tip.  I was saying, 'Keep your
     hands up.  Watch your ear'" ("Tonight Show," 7/25). ...The
     book, "MICHELLE KWAN: Heart of a Champion," will hit stores
     in November.  Scholastic Inc. will also publish a Kwan
     scrapbook and poster aimed at the youth market (BOSTON
     GLOBE, 7/26)....Walt Disney Chair MICHAEL EISNER is
     interviewed in BUSINESS WEEK.  On a succession plan for the
     company: "There is a group of people both inside and outside
     this company who could run it if I wasn't here.  There isn't
     a concrete plan at the moment" (BUSINESS WEEK, 8/4 issue).
