NEWLY CREATED INDOOR LACROSSE LEAGUE OFFICIALLY LAUNCHES

          The newly created National Lacrosse League (NLL)
     announced yesterday that it will begin play in January '98
     with teams in Baltimore/Washington, DC; Buffalo; Hamilton,
     Ont.; New England; New York; Philadelphia, Rochester and
     Syracuse, NY.  An additional two to four markets are
     expected to be added in the next month.  Six of the eight
     teams were absorbed from the former Major Indoor Lacrosse
     League (MILL).  Unlike the MILL, which had single-entity
     ownership, NLL teams will be independently owned and
     operated.  The league headquarters will be based in Buffalo. 
     Team owners include MILL Founder & Owner Russ Cline in
     Philadelphia; AHL Crunch Owner Howard Dolgon in Syracuse;
     AHL Americans Owner Steve Donner in Rochester; AHL Bruins
     co-Owner Frank DuRoss in New England; MILL Founder & co-
     Owner Chris Fritz in Hamilton; former MILL partner Bruce
     Lucker in New York and the Sabres' limited partnership,
     Niagara Frontier Hockey L.P., in Buffalo (NLL).
