YOUNG GUNS CONTINUE TO SPUR GOLF RATINGS AS BRITISH UP 60%

ABC's final-round coverage of the British Open on
Sunday drew a 5.6 overnight rating, up 60% over last year's
     3.5. Saturday's overnight rating of a 3.9 was up 34% over
'96 (Mult., 7/22). ABC Sports Dir of Media Relations Mark
Mandel noted that Justin Leonard's win, along with Ernie
Els' at the U.S. Open and Tiger Woods' victory at The
Masters, bodes well for the game: "We could have decades
worth of rivalries from those three" (FT. WORTH STAR-
TELEGRAM, 7/22). Leonard appeared this morning on ABC's
"Good Morning America" ("GMA," ABC, 7/22).
