          Broncos Owner Pat Bowlen, on the team's new uniforms:
     "It's become sort of an in-vogue thing to do to write about
     how ugly the uniforms are because some nut gets on ESPN and
     talks about it.  It's almost a joke to me that they'll talk
     about our uniforms but what about the other guys.  Are Tampa
     Bay's so cool?  I mean, give me a break" (DENVER POST,
     7/21)....In K.C., Mike Vaccaro profiles potential owners for
     the Royals, including current Chair David Glass and team VP 
     George Brett.  Members of a possible Brett bid include
     Brett, his brother Bobby, who is a sports agent, and Bill
     Pereira, Chair of ID-based Diamond Sports (K.C. STAR,
     7/21)....The Celtics' '96-97 season is featured in a front
     page story by Michael Holley in today's BOSTON GLOBE under
     the header "FOUL!  Many Strands In Celtics' Season-long
     Unraveling" (BOSTON GLOBE, 7/21)....The Red Sox "are hoping
     to play a regular-season game in Ireland in the next couple
     of years" (BOSTON GLOBE, 7/19)....More than 25,000
     individual-game tickets for the Bucs were sold on Saturday,
     the first day the tickets were available (TAMPA TRIBUNE,
     7/20)....In N.Y., Bob Glauber: "Don Shula has been mentioned
     as a possible front man in an ownership deal for the
     Cleveland franchise when the city gets a team in 1999"
     (NEWSDAY, 7/20)....The NHL Hurricanes have sold about 3,400
     season ticket plans (HARTFORD COURANT, 7/20).
