MONTANA LINES UP AGAINST SEGA IN COURTROOM BATTLE

Joe Montana filed suit in CA Superior Court Friday
against Sega, claiming breach of contract and fraud "in a
complex licensing deal that allegedly went sour a year ago,"
according to the SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS. Montana is seeking
$5M in "general damages plus special and punitive damages."
Court documents filed by Montana said he agreed to grant an
"exclusive, worldwide" license for a football video game
that was to be released May 1. But after negotiating for an
additional three years in which he would get a "cut of up
to" 7% on sales plus $825,000 in fees, Montana claimed Sega
sent a letter July 15 "saying the business connection was
severed and no contract applied" (S.J. MERCURY NEWS, 7/15).
