The Wizards debuted their new uniforms on Friday,
featuring a color scheme of blue, black and bronze,
according to J.A. Adande of the WASHINGTON POST. The home
uniforms are white with a blue stripe down the left side and
the road uniforms are blue with a black stripe. The new
uniforms are made by Nike, and bronze is used in the trim.
The Wizards will be allowed to establish a secondary uniform
after two seasons and once that deadline passes, the Wizards
plan to unveil a black alternative road uniform (WASHINGTON
POST, 7/12). The POST's fashion writer Robin Givhan: "[T]he
problem with the Wizards' look isn't the silhouette or
colors of the uniforms themselves, but the logo. It is
ugly. At the very least, misguided." Givhan calls the road
uniforms "sleek and tough," and the home uniforms "not as
successful" (WASHINGTON POST, 7/12). Also in DC, Scott
Bowles wrote that "fans and paraphernalia dealers say, the
switch from the Bullets' logo to the Wizards' has created an
unexpected demand for shirts, caps and jerseys sporting the
old emblems" (WASHINGTON POST, 7/13).
