SUPER SHOW FINDS GA WORLD CONGRESS CENTER A TIGHT FIT
Published July 11, 1997
The Super Show sporting goods trade show, held annually
in Atlanta, "may be leaving town by the turn of the
century," according to Saporta & Unger in the ATLANTA
CONSTITUTION. The show is put on by SGMA, and its President
John Riddle says, "We are actively looking at other
locations. We have to. We need more space." The
CONSTITUTION's Saporta & Unger report that the SGMA is
looking at Orlando, New Orleans and Las Vegas as new sites.
During its last legislative session, the GA General Assembly
did not approve funds to expand the GA World Congress
Center, where the Super Show is held. Even if funding is
approved in '98, Riddle says that, by then, the SGMA
"already will have made a decision" about moving. Riddle
adds the Super Show will "definitely" stay in Atlanta in '98
and "probably" return in '99 (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 7/11).
