GIANTS' PROPOSED PAC BELL PARK WILL KEEP ADS INSIDE
Published July 11, 1997
The design of the MLB Giants' proposed China Basin
ballpark "won approval" from the S.F. Planning Commission
yesterday, but one element of the approval is that the park
"won't have" commercial advertising on its exterior,
according to Edward Epstein of the S.F. CHRONICLE. Epstein:
"Even though the Giants maintained that they had no
intention of erecting such billboards, neighbors have been
concerned and the commission worked out wording that
satisfies all sides." There will be four, diffused neon
"Pacific Bell Park" signs on the exterior, one at each
entrance of the facility (S.F. CHRONICLE, 7/11).
