WITH RENEWALS SLOW, NUGGETS EMBARK ON NEW MARKETING CAMPAIGN

With Nuggets season-ticket renewals closing Friday,
only around 65% of last year's 7,400 ticket holders have
signed up for another season, according to Mike Monroe of
the DENVER POST. Ascent Sports President Ellen Robinson
"acknowledged that renewals have been very slow, and have
become the focus of the team's marketing efforts." Monroe:
"The problem Robinson and her sales staff face is daunting,
and they have been told so by their clientele: not only were
the Nuggets awful last season, they hardly seemed to care by
season's end." To that end, the club is starting a new TV
and print marketing campaign this week with the tagline,
"Every game ... every quarter ... every minute." Robinson
said that the team has "decided against a 'fire-sale' policy
that would have lowered ticket prices or returned the free
parking that was removed two years ago from season-ticket
packages because it didn't make economic sense for a team
already losing millions" (DENVER POST, 7/10).
