TORONTO REPORT HAS EXPOS CLOSELY WATCHING BALLPARK REACTION

The "financially troubled Expos will begin preparations
to move out of Montreal and into the United States if their
plans for the construction of a downtown stadium -- which
they will unveil at a Friday news conference -- fall on deaf
ears," according to Marty York of the Toronto GLOBE & MAIL.
One of the team's 13 part-owners told York: "We'll know
within the next six months whether we still have a future in
Montreal. ... Let me make it clear that all 13 of us are
unanimous that we will not keep this franchise in Montreal
if our plans for a new stadium are not executed." York also
reports that there was "a rumbling that Marcel Aubut might
become involved as a new investor in the Expos and a
downtown stadium." Aubut owned the Nordiques until the team
moved to Colorado (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 6/18).
