HEAT ALTER TICKET PRICING TO STIMULATE SALES

In an "apparent push to overcome last season's
lackluster sales, when only 21 of 41 regular-season games
sold out at Miami Arena," the Heat announced ticket policy
changes, according to Ira Winderman of the Ft. Lauderdale
SUN-SENTINEL. Winderman: "A franchise that had previously
frowned upon partial season ticket plans and discounted
tickets confirmed it would place 11-game packages on sale in
August and discount tickets during the season for games that
produce lagging sales." For the first time, the Heat
lowered prices on a seating category, reducing the upper
corners from $19 to $17 per game. Overall, ticket prices
will rise 6.2% for season ticket holders and 9.8% on
individual purchases (SUN-SENTINEL, 6/14). In Miami, Barry
Jackson reports that the price increase will affect 10,000
of Miami Arena's 15,200 seats (MIAMI HERALD, 6/14).
