NEWSPAPER BARON BLACK LOOKS TO BRING NFL TO TORONTO

          Conrad Black, Chair of Hollinger Inc. newspaper
     company, "has surfaced as a potential backer of a Toronto
     bid" to obtain an NFL franchise, according to Gary Picknell
     of the TORONTO SUN.  Two Picknell sources say that Black
     "has had discussions with Sun Media Corp. President Paul
     Godfrey about joining his ownership group" and that Black's
     involvement "could be as much as 25%."  Godfrey confirmed he
     has a 10-man partnership group in place.  Hollinger Inc.
     owns 60 of Canada's 105 daily newspapers, and the Chicago
     Sun-Times and London Daily Telegraph (TORONTO SUN, 6/13).
