NAMES IN THE NEWS

          A MA Superior Court jury decided yesterday that
     Patriots Owner and Foxboro Park Owner ROBERT KRAFT did not
     defraud track operator CHARLES SARKIS.  The jurors
     "rejected" Sarkis's claim that Kraft had "tricked him into
     investing more than" $11M in the Foxborough track (BOSTON
     GLOBE, 5/30).....In Boston, GLOBE columnist DAN SHAUGHNESSY
     writes that fellow columnist BOB RYAN, who is being honored
     by the Basketball Hall of Fame tomorrow night, is "the de
     facto commissioner" of basketball: "Think I'm joking?  I
     once happened upon Ryan and NBA Commissioner DAVID STERN
     chatting, pregame, at courtside.  I came up behind the two
     and said, 'Commish ...'  Both men turned around" (BOSTON
     GLOBE, 5/30)....HOOTIE AND THE BLOWFISH have booked a skybox
     at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Raleigh, NC, where
     the NHL Hurricanes will play in '99-2000 (TRIANGLE BUSINESS
     JOURNAL, 5/26 issue)....DENISE ILITCH LITES, daughter of
     Mike and Marion Ilitch, and President of Olympia
     Development, is profiled in a CORPORATE DETROIT cover story
     by Christine Snyder.  Ilitch Lites, who negotiated the dual-
     stadium project with the Lions on behalf of the Ilitch
     family: "The stadium project was the most difficult deal I
     have been involved in" (CORPORATE DETROIT, 4/97).
