LEAGUE NOTES

ESPN's Chris Mortensen in an ESPN SportsZone column,
notes a new "state of unrest" regarding the future of some
NFL franchises, including the Colts, Vikings, Patriots and
Seahawks. Mortensen quotes a Patriots team official as
saying privately: "I'm about 90% sure we'll be playing in
Connecticut in a couple of years" (ESPN SportsZone, 5/29).
...If Silver Charm wins the June 7 Belmont Stakes to sweep
the Triple Crown, owners Bob and Beverly Lewis would earn
$6.6M total for the Triple Crown races following Visa USA's
announcement that the Triple Crown winner would receive a
$5M bonus in addition to the $1.6M from purses for the three
races. In the past, a winner would receive a guaranteed $5M
that included purse moneys (L.A. TIMES, 5/29)....The six-
team Women's Professional Fastpitch softball League begins
it's inaugural season tonight. Six teams in GA, NC, FL and
VA will play a 72-game schedule. AT&T Wireless is title
sponsor, others include NationsBank, Reebok, Louisville
Slugger and Gatorade (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 5/30).
