...The Coyotes will announce next week they are raising
ticket prices on "nearly every seat," with the increase on
the average ticket price ranging from 8.5-9% (ARIZONA
REPUBLIC, 5/30)....In Detroit, Pete Waldmeir writes that
Tigers and Red Wings Owner Mike Ilitch "would like to dump
the Tigers, insiders say, but would be foolish to sell until
the new stadium is in place and the team's price increases"

the day of this month's referendum by backers of the sports
project showed that NHL Hurricanes Owner Peter Karmanos'
"11th-hour bid" to move his team to Columbus helped "seal
defeat for the project." David Milenthal, CEO HMS Partners,
which commissioned the poll: "The circus surrounding
Karmanos moved the issue back to sports when we were trying
to position it as an economic development issue" (COLUMBUS
